Last Monday, on 18th July in South Africa, we celebrated Nelson Mandela International Day also called "Mandela Day".
Every year, South Africans are encouraged to give a bit of their time to help others in need for 67 minutes.
Why 67 minutes? It’s to commemorate the 67 years that Nelson Mandela spent fighting for human rights, justice, and equality in South Africa, after the difficult time of apartheid.
Men and women from all walks of life, skin colour and origins are encouraged to gather with their families to help people in need. The idea is to make the world a better place 🥰
On that particular day, two of our Travel Café guests (Sandrine and Sylvain) and our employee Audrey spent a full morning in one of Cape Town townships and helped locals to clean and remove plastics nearby charities like Isibane se Afrika
Of course we don’t have to wait until next year to change things! Let's help each other every day in whatever way we can.
And you, what did you do for Mandela day?
